KD shorts, socks and working shoes were the order of the day for all those airmen whose job meant working outside.  This particularly applied to Aerial Riggers, members of SAS Flight and all other Airmen who had to work on aircraft on the pan.  Temperatures on the pan just after midday had been known to reach 135°F in the sun.
